Company

Sixty years of moving the world, one voyage at a time.

Südvik Line A/S is a privately held container and bulk shipping line headquartered in Copenhagen, with regional hubs on every continent and 40,000 colleagues at sea and ashore.

What we do

Ocean freight that behaves like a schedule.

We carry containers on 68 fixed-day trade lanes and bulk cargo in every size class from Handysize to Capesize. Inland transport, customs and insurance are booked under the same reference, so one plan covers the whole journey.

How we work

Four commitments that have not changed since 1962.

01

Precision

A schedule is a promise. We publish our performance and explain every deviation.

02

Plain dealing

Published tariffs, no hidden surcharges, and a bill of lading you can read.

03

Stewardship

Net zero by 2040, safe ships, and yards that recycle responsibly.

04

Presence

Own offices and agents in 121 countries, staffed by people who ship.

Our story

From two ships to a global network

We grew by keeping one promise to shippers: fixed-day departures, published prices and a person who answers the phone in your time zone.

1962

Founded in Copenhagen with two second-hand vessels on the Baltic–West Africa trade.

1978

First owned terminal opens at Aarhus; weekly fixed-day departures introduced.

1996

First 5,000 TEU newbuild delivered; Asia–North Europe loop launched.

2011

Bulk chartering desk established, adding Handysize to Capesize tonnage.

2019

Online booking platform launched with published prices and online payment.

2026

343 vessels, 260 ports, 121 countries and 45 million tons of bulk cargo a year.

Leadership

Run by people who have loaded a ship.

The executive team combines three decades at sea and in terminals with a commercial organisation that has built the customer platform from the quay up.
